Transfer From Blogger to Wordpress

August 2nd, 2009 by Walt Leave a reply »

I got tired of Google’s blogging service, blogger not being very customizable so I decided to look for an alternative. What I found was the wonderful world of wordpress. My next step was  to figure out how to transfer my blog at blogger to wordpress. It was very easy and only took me about five minutes but I’ll give you all a detailed look at how I did it.

First after logging into blogger we want to transfer we go to the “Settings” tab and click on the “Publishing” sub-tab.

After that switch to a “Custom domain”. (Note: you must make sure your ‘blog readers’ is set to ‘anybody and that you are using a classic template.)

blogger2

Now click on the “switch to advanced settings” link.

blogger3

Enter your new domain name. since we are switching to wordpress.com ours is going to be “thenewtestblog.wordpress.com”. Then click save settings.

blogger4

Now login to your wordpress blog. Once that is done click on the “Tools” button at the bottom left.

wordpress1

Then click on the “import” button.

wordpress2

Then click on Blogger.

wordpress3

Now we have to authorize blogger to access our account to transfer the files.

wordpress4

Click on grant access.

wordpress5

Now click on Import.

wordpress6

Once that is done we can visit our new blog will all the comments and post from the old blog.

wordpress7

It will automatically generate the archive file with the correct dates from the original post.

wordpress8

There your have it, your new customizable blog.
